Felix Songolo, one of our very own parishioners, appeared in an article of the Catholic Sentinel! The aritcle shares the incredible things he has accomplished in his 17 years, and we are so lucky to have him and his family as part of our Parish.
This August he will be traveling to the Congo with his mother, Salome Nanyenga, to the Democratic Republic of Congo, where they will be bring much needed items which they hope will make a small but meaningful difference in the lives of local Congolese students. During this trip to visit his grandfather and his roots, he’ll distribute collected items to youths at a Congolese parish.
“I’ve had so many blessings to come (to the United States),” said Songolo, “I wanted to do something to help.”
Songolo is collecting donations from De La Salle North Catholic High School students and staff of backpacks, shoes and clothing through a project he started as vice president of faith in the De La Salle student council.
In the fall, he will be heading to Washington, D.C. on a full-ride scholarship to Georgetown University!
