Increase to 50 persons effective immediately | Masses for August 9 & August 16

Saint Philip Neri Catholic Church will celebrate mass this Saturday, August 9th at 4 p.m. and on Sunday, and August 16th at 9:30 a.m.  The 4pm Mass on Saturday will continue to be live-streamed if you wish to watch it from your home.

NEW: How Many Worshipers can Gather at Church?
Phase 1 counties are now allowed to accommodate up to 50 persons total
indoors for Mass.
Outdoor church gatherings in Phase 1 can also have up
to 50 people which continues to incliude the musicians, the reader and myself.

If you would like to attend Mass beginning this weekend, you may do so, but you must register at the Parish Office or call 503-231-4955.  If you get voicemail please leave your name, phone number and the Mass you would like to attend, that is 4pm on Saturday or 9:30 am on Sunday and how many people will attend.  Please contact the office by Friday at noon.  If we get over 50 requesting to attend Mass, we will consider adding an additional Mass.

At Mass we will have communion under the form of the bread alone.  There will be no drinking from the cup.  I will be the sole Communion Minister.  We will omit the Greeting of Peace, and there will be no bulletins.  You can see the bulletin online at our website:

You will note when you come to Church that only one door will be unlocked and that will be the side door by the rectory, some pews have been taped off to allow for social distancing.  Our crew from Mr. Maid will clean the Church after each Mass.  Families may sit together, but if you are not from the same household you must sit at least six feet apart.

There will be no Holy Water in the Fonts, nor will there be any Music Books or Today’s Missals available.

The archbishop continues to dispense all Catholics from the obligation to attend Mass, especially if it helps them to feel safe.  Thank you for your continued patience as we slowly and safely restore our parish to a new normal.  I am grateful to all of you for your loving concern regarding our parish community.  Thank you very much and God bless you.
